Questions Directory

Is there a public bus to the Peshtura trailhead?

Absolutely not. There is no public bus or train service to the Kurvelesh gorges. Taxis from standard apps will refuse to climb the unpaved mountain tracks. You must hire specialized off-road transport.

Can I drive a normal sedan to Shëngjergj?

Yes, the road to Shëngjergj village is mostly paved and manageable for standard cars, with only a short walk required to reach the waterfall itself.

Is it safe to hike Peshtura without a guide?

We strongly advise against it unless you are highly experienced in backcountry navigation. The gorge is unmarked, cell service is non-existent, and flash floods are a real risk. Hire a local expert.

Can I swim in the canyon pools?

Yes, but the water in both Shëngjergj and Peshtura is fed by mountain springs and remains extremely cold (around 10°C) even in mid-summer. Always check depth before diving to avoid hidden rocks.
